Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Project Manager with a strong electrical engineering background to oversee critical utility energy infrastructure projects. This includes HV transmission, substation builds and utility connections, ensuring seamless energy delivery for data centre interconnection and operations.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing high-voltage connection construction projects, working with cross-functional teams, contractors and utility providers to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee planning, execution and completion of HV energy infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety regulations and budget constraints.
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, vendors and utility providers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Manage procurement, scheduling and delivery of key energy services, ensuring vendors meet performance expectations.
- Monitor energy system integration, ensuring adherence to industry regulations, safety standards and sustainability goals.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies to maintain timelines and objectives.
- Handle contract variations, invoicing and ensure timely payments.
- Provide regular project updates to internal teams, contractors and senior leadership.
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience managing utility energy infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in HV systems, substation builds and utility connections.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to align and manage cross-functional teams.
- Experience with vendor and contractor management in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in project planning tools such as Microsoft Project/P6 Primavera.
- Willingness to travel regularly to construction sites.
Desirable:
- Experience working on data centre energy projects, including HV electrical utility connections.
- Knowledge of safety, quality and regulatory standards within data centre energy systems.
- Ability to manage multiple contractors and vendors in high-pressure environments.
