HV Control Engineer

HV Control Engineer – Contract – Outside IR35 – UK & Ireland

I am looking to speak with HV Control Engineers located in the UK & Ireland. We are looking for experienced professionals with DNO or National Grid experience.

Requirements: 

• Must have 2+ years experience as a HV Control Engineer
• SCADA experience preferred but DTS experience would be considered
• National Grid or DNO experience is desired
• Offshore wind project experience
• Must be able to pass an authorisation Pannell
• Evidence of previous authorisations

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the real-time operation of HV control systems, ensuring efficient power distribution and system stability
• Utilise SCADA systems for effective monitoring.
• Rapidly identify and troubleshoot HV system issues, providing immediate corrective actions to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, conducting regular safety audits, risk assessments, and implementing corrective measures.
• Operate and maintain HV switchgear, transformers, and protective relays, ensuring they perform optimally.
• Recommend and implement system upgrades to HV control systems to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
• Ensure all HV control systems adhere to relevant legislation and regulations. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and maintain accurate records.
• Work closely with project managers, field engineers, SAPs and contractors, to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineers and other team members on HV control processes and safety protocols.
• Perform HV operation management duties in accordance with HV safety protocols for the consent & cancellation of HV documentation.
• Provide on call or out of hours work for the control room on a rotational basis
• Support with the integration of future projects into the clients portfolio
