Job Title: Technical Director

About the Role:

My client are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Director to lead our efforts in utility-scale energy storage systems. In this strategic role, you will be at the forefront of designing and optimizing large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), driving technical excellence, and collaborating closely with our sales and commercial teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and Optimization: Lead the design, engineering, and optimization of utility-scale BESS solutions. Ensure technical specifications meet project requirements and performance standards.
• RFP Analysis: Analyze Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation to assess project scope, risks, and requirements. Develop comprehensive technical responses and strategies.
• Technical Presentations: Conduct technical design presentations and provide clarifications to both internal teams and external clients. Communicate complex technical concepts in an accessible manner.
• Solution Design: Translate customer requirements into detailed BESS technical solution designs. Ensure alignment with project objectives and industry standards.
• Tender Responses: Review, prepare, and submit technical tender responses within established deadlines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and enhance proposals.
• Market Trends: Stay informed about the latest trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements in the energy storage market. Apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
• Competitive Analysis: Study the competitive landscape to inform ongoing product and technical solution development. Identify opportunities for differentiation and advancement.
• Contract Support: Work with commercial teams to support contract negotiations and finalize agreements from a technical perspective. Ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and met.

Qualifications:

• Educational Background: Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Energy Engineering.
• Experience: 5+ years of experience in energy storage systems, including substantial experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of AC/DC systems, Power Conversion Systems (PCS)/Inverters, and PPC/EMS/SCADA systems. Familiarity with grid connection processes and regulatory standards.
• Skills: Proven ability to analyze complex technical requirements, develop effective solutions, and lead high-impact technical presentations.
• Languages: Fluency in technical English. Proficiency in additional European languages (e.g., Italian, German, Spanish) is a plus.
