Job Title: Senior Lead Engineer - HVDC Projects
Location: Sweden and UK
Overview: We are seeking an experienced and versatile Senior Lead Engineer to oversee the technical delivery of large-scale HVDC projects from start to finish. This individual will act as the key technical interface with clients, manage the overall technology direction, and ensure the seamless transition of project requirements to the delivery team. The role requires a broad technical background and the ability to manage the technical aspects of projects involving complex systems such as HVDC, substations, and power grids. You will be responsible for leading and driving technical specifications, procurement, and project execution in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Pre-bid & Project Execution:
- Participate in multiple projects during the pre-bid phase (1-2 years) and focus on one major project during the execution stage (3-8 years).
- Work closely with the customer to assess their requirements, guide them on the appropriate technology solutions, and steer the project's technical direction.
- Lead the technical specifications phase, collaborating with expert groups to define the core design and review documentation.
Day-to-Day Operations:
- Oversee the quality review of ongoing deliverables, ensuring adherence to the highest technical standards.
- Provide technical leadership during workshops, negotiations, and steering sessions with customers.
- Offer training and knowledge sharing within the team, supporting technical growth and skills development.
Customer & Team Interaction:
- Act as the key technical point of contact with customers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure effective knowledge transfer from the technical team to the customer and vice versa.
- Sell the team’s proposed solutions to clients and internal stakeholders, convincing them of the technical value and feasibility.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 6-10 years of relevant experience in HVDC systems, with a deep understanding of power systems, substations, and electrical interfaces.
- Background in technical roles such as Technical Manager, System Architect, or similar, with broad technical expertise across various areas of power systems, not just limited to specific equipment within HVDC.
- Strong experience in customer-facing roles, particularly in leading technical negotiations and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required; a Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
- Proven experience in technical project management, including the preparation of technical documentation, specifications, and change management processes.
